Well, a lot has been happening lately here at Poor Fishy Films. Last year's HFF award-
winning short, The Yard Sale, has been submitted on our behalf (by Nathan Fleet) to the
AGH WORLD FILM FESTIVAL at the Art Gallery of Hamilton and we should hear from them in the next week or so.

We are also in the pre-production stages of our newest short, The Mickey Montgomery Show, which will prove to be something unique and exciting for us and the viewing audience.

Finally, we have been playing with a new editing program (Final Cut Express)and the results have been exciting.

All material found here is the sole property of Poor Fishy Films.  We're pretty sure your mother taught you that stealing is bad and if you do it you won't get into Heaven and the cops will arrest you and all that kind of stuff.  Well, it's all true.  So don't use our stuff without our express written consent.  So please just ask. I bet we say yes.

This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Hamilton Film Festival.  We have two
films in this year's Comedy category - Circus Temps (see May 10 entry below) and a new short called The Mickey Montgomery Show starring the very talented actors
Lance Darren Cole and John Darling.  Mickey Montgomery promises to be something
unique and not to be missed.  We can't say any more than that, but come on down
to The Staircase Cafe Theatre on Wed. Nov. 3 to see for yourself.

Also, on Thursday, Nov. 4, the next installment of JUXT will make its debut.  We were thrilled to kick off this experimental project last year with our segment,
Splitsville.  We look forward to seeing where this year's filmmakers will take it.

The Hamilton Film Festival takes place Nov. 2-7 at The Staircase Cafe Theatre - 27 Dundurn St. N, Hamilton Ontario.  Check out www.hamiltonfilmfestival.com for full details.

Hope to see you there.

Ouat Media in Toronto has expressed interest in our short film Circus Temps.  So now we have a lot of paperwork to fill out so that they can have exclusive rights to the film, which is a lot of work but well worth the effort.  Unfortunately, this means that the film has to come off of our site and YouTube.  I think we can have a trailer for it.

And don't forget - Hamilton Film Festival Nov. 2-7 2010 at The Staircase Cafe Theatre at 27 Dundurn St. N in Hamilton.

The Hamilton Film Festival is well under way and so far the films
have been amazing.  Circus Temps was very well received on Nov. 3
during the Comedy Shorts event and the second segment of JUXT
premiered last night.  It was an interesting turn of events for
the film and it will be very interesting to see where it will go
next year.

Also, I was awarded the Justin Bieber Award for challenging the
local mainstream media for their lack of interest and effort in
supporting local arts while focusing on pointless tabloid trash.

After a long, cold, bitter, seemingly eternal winter, it looks like spring is finally just around the corner.  And with the new season comes new material from Poor Fishy Films.

We are currently in pre-production for not one but two new shorts. First up is The Neighbour from Hell, where the new neighbourhood resident may be more than what he initially appears.  Second comes a not-so kid-friendly children's show, Soggy Bottom Funhouse, hosted by a puppet named Cousin Zeke. At this stage, SBF is only in the idea stage, but I'm sure it will develop further soon.

We'll see some familiar faces in the upcoming shorts, such as our good friends and veteran Poor Fishy performers Ben Herbert and James Knowles, as well as returning performer Beth Bagnall-Duncan, and a fresh new face, Katie Uhlmann.

Lots to come in the next couple of months.  Till then, stay tuned.

As happens in the film game, our plan to bring The Neighbour from Hell to the screen has hit a delay.  Basically, we ran out of time and haven't had an opportunity to reschedule.  But we will, so keep your eye out.

In the meantime, we contributed this year to the Hamilton 24 Hour Film Festival. Teams are given three pieces of criteria - a location, a line of dialogue, and a prop - and have 24 hours to write, shoot, edit and deliver a five minute short film.  Often we find that our most creative efforts are those that come together under pressure and this production proved to be no different.

Our Criteria was as follows: Dialogue: "Bring the dog, I
love animals. I'm a great cook."; Prop: Abnormally large
paper airplane; Location: In a reflection.

The result was an episode of Soggy Bottom Funhouse, though
it's worth noting that the episode we shot was a new and
original idea.  We simply built on the aforementioned
premise.

Soggy Bottom Funhouse will screen Tuesday, June 7 at the
Hamilton Public Library.  Come see what it's all about.
